Dawn Herschlip: Medicine Rattle Creation Mini Workshop – Ever wanted to make your own Medicine Rattle?
Each participant will be creating a Medicine Rattle opening with a sacred ceremony, allowing for the essence to be brought forth.
We give opportunity to make way for transformation to occur. The practice of rattle on a personal level, within the community or in a healing modality deepens when you’ve crafted the rattle yourself – every stitch is a prayer, tuning the voice to your own vibration and resonance, make it distinctively yours. Drawing on the supporting energies of natural elements and combined with intention and sacred use, rattles are medicine tools that have been used to facilitate; healing work, meditation, dance and have the capacity to move, cleanse and clear energies. It can also be used as a beautiful, decorative memento of your healing experience. A beautiful listening and response will happen and a new partnership will form while creating a Medicine Rattle. Co-create a relationship with the spirits of elk or deer along with various elements of medicine in these sacred tools. This is an inspiring creative mini workshop of designing and crafting your very own Medicine Rattle.
This will be a 2 part series – Day one we will begin with creating a Sacred Circle and begin creating the Medicine Rattle – Day two after the drying process we will add the embellishments to the rattle. You are encouraged to bring your own embellishments. For example for sound, Dawn will provide small pebbles, but if you have some meaningful crystal chips or small stones you want to use – bring those with you. Our Story
I created this retreat in honor of my mother, Jeannette Jenson the first retreat was held August 18th &19th 2018. I am so very blessed that my mom was able to attend the first retreat, she was very weak at the time, but her and her best friend since they were little kids going to school in Deering ND, Donna attended. At the end of the retreat mom told me she was so glad she came and told me before we went to bed that first night “I’m not so afraid anymore”. My heart was so happy. I was able to give my mom a piece of mind from what I have learned from my awakening and the people I have met . The next day we did an exercise on intuition. We each went around the room and put our hand on our heart and listened to what it said. When it came to her turn she was almost flabbergasted and said “ beautiful!” she then said “ I never in my life have ever thought of myself as beautiful!” You could feel and see what an effect it had on her-she was amazed and it was powerful and so moving. When you do this exercise it’s your soul speaking to you and in that moment she realized not only how her soul felt about her, but how others see her.
This retreat was life changing for all of us who attended. For me it was to share what I have learned after my awakening. To be able to share it with my mom was more than I could ever give anyone – but to give it to my mother – someone who gave me life itself! What an honor. She left this world knowing; life doesn’t end at death, we all have a soul that wants to communicate with us if we only listen, that family and love really is why we are all here, that we are all one, that God, Jesus and the archangels are always all around us – with free will we only have to ask, that being a mother is the most important and worthwhile job you can ever have.
My mom was put on hospice September 13th 2018 and passed away October 14th 2018 just 2 months after the retreat. Her being at this first retreat and me honoring her with the retreat was all divine timing. I had been planning the retreat for a few months when it occurred to me – make it in honor of my mother. My mom was always such an inspiration to me and we had a very close relationship my entire life. She was my inspiration, my confidant, and my best friend. Growing up she was a single parent for most of our childhood and she did an amazing job raising my two siblings and myself on her own. Her pride and joy were her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was so strong her whole life and at the end as we all sat in the doctor’s office; mom, my brother, sister and myself she told the doctor as she said “I understand and I know, but I don’t want to leave my kids.” No matter how old your kids are – they will always be your children. That was mom, it was never about her, she lived her whole life for her family. In her obituary we put “Jeannette was the epitome of what a good mother should be. Family meant everything to her.” That was my mom’s legacy to the world… this retreat in her honor is mine.
When I first planned this retreat this is what I stated:
We as women take care of so many people in our lives we seem to leave ourselves last. This retreat will help you learn some of the different modalities of healing. Some AMAZING speakers will be there to share with you the journey they took to find their way to happiness, peacefulness and awareness. If you are searching for any of that in your life this retreat is for you!
There is something to be said about women coming together and sharing what they have learned on their journey in this life. This is what this retreat is all about. Sharing that knowledge and being together with like minded women.
I invite you to join us honoring my mother and sharing with you some of the things that changed my life and hers. I do this to share my awakening and the love. At this time we are very limited to the number of women we can share this space with as we keep it very personal and in small numbers to attend. We may add more dates in the future so more women can attend, but for now space is limited and we are half sold out from women who come back each year.
What I do for my living is what I do for my life; I share with others what I have learned in my awakening and I am forever blessed to have been able to share this with my mother.
Blessings
